SYNOPSIS

I first discovered Goro Fujita’s artwork nearly eight years ago, and it left a lasting impression. So much so I named the robot Goro after the Artist. In fact, his concept was the first I chose for my term 1 project during my early days in school. Looking back, my initial attempt was rough. This time around, I wanted to revisit the piece with a fresh perspective, staying true to its simplicity while incorporating subtle areas of complexity, especially around the joints.

To enhance the scene, I added buildings on either side to introduce a secondary light source, catching the reflections on wet surfaces. I kept the cat minimalistic and stylized, consistent with the original concept, opting not to add fur to preserve its clean, graphic appeal. The robot design varied across his designs and I added my own proportions while keeping his rough design in mind.

This project also served as an opportunity for me to explore basic rigging in Blender—something I initially found challenging but ultimately rewarding.
